About this Collection
Whilst farming is a necessary process worldwide, the intensive actions in some areas where it is carried out has serious negative implications for the survival and welfare of wildlife, as well the pollution of soil and water. With the demand for produce increasing globally, identification and future implementation of sustainable farming elements are receiving growing attention to ensure that demand does not outweigh supply. From the investigation of climate-related effects (i.e., gas emissions) to new technologies (i.e., precision agriculture), the focus of this collection will include small- and large-scale farming of animals, crops, and vegetables, but not aquaculture.

This collection aims to provide Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe beneficiaries with a space to openly publish work within the broad area of sustainable farming in line with the Sustainable Development Goals to preserve and reinvigorate the agricultural sector.

The scope of the collection includes but is not limited to:
  • Nitrogen cycle (i.e., gas emissions)
  • Natural plant growth methods
  • Renewable sources of farming (i.e., waste to produce)
  • Air pollution
  • New technologies and robotics (i.e., precision agriculture)

All article processing charges will be covered centrally by the European Commission.
