About this Collection
The industrial revolution turned metals into a fundamental material utilized in technological developments, becoming essential for the manufacturing of devices such as vehicles for transportation, construction, cookware and many other products that are imperative features of the modern-day human experience.

Metallurgy is the study of the chemical and physical behavior of metals – this includes metallic elements, metallic compounds and alloys (mixtures of metals). This field of research also focuses on the technology of metals: by examining the microstructure of metals to understand their mechanical properties, this information can be applied to their production and engineering to manufacture goods.

The study of metals will contribute to the improvement of existing materials, inspire novelty, and develop theories and models that will further push the possibilities of technological advancement forward. This collection aims to collate research within this realm and submissions to the collection can be focused on but not limited to:
  • Process metallurgy
  • Physical metallurgy
  • Mechanical metallurgy
  • Surface metallurgy
  • Extractive metallurgy
  • Pyrometallurgy
  • Hydrometallurgy
