Addressing these challenges requires more integrated and flexible energy systems, supported by adapted regulatory frameworks, energy markets, and infrastructure. Greater interoperability, improved coordination between stakeholders, and the use of digital technologies will be key to making energy systems more resilient, efficient, and sustainable.
This Collection is run by the Horizon Europe funded project ELEXIA (Demonstration of a digitised energy system integration across sectors enhancing flexibility and resilience towards an efficient, sustainable, cost-optimised, affordable, secure, and stable energy supply). ELEXIA aims to advance and demonstrate innovative tools for planning and operating local energy systems and to combine them into a robust Digital Services Platform (DSP) for local site managers and planners.
Aligned with the European Green Deal, the EU Strategy for Energy System Integration, the Paris Agreement, and the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the ELEXIA Collection provides a forum for research and innovation addressing the technical, economic, regulatory, and societal dimensions of energy systems integration.
Topics covered include energy optimisation, forecasting, life-cycle assessment, thermal and pit storage systems, energy flexibility, sector coupling, digital energy services, stakeholder engagement, energy policy recommendations, risk management, and pathways towards resilient and sustainable energy systems.
