About this Collection
ARISE will make industrial Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) deployments simpler, cheaper, and more widespread across Europe by developing and demonstrating the concept of AgileHRI. Funded under the EU’s Horizon Europe Program, the ARISE project envisions a near future aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0, prioritizing resilient, sustainable, and human-centric work environments. In such a future, companies recognize that investing in industrial HRI is essential for achieving better short- and long-term goals, rather than viewing it as a mere cost. Human-centric approaches surpass traditional technology-driven methods, with technology serving people rather than the other way around. Industrial HRI establishes itself as a game-changing asset that enables seamless collaboration between humans and robots on complex tasks, allowing them to work together in shifts of any length.

To materialize this vision, the ARISE project will:
i) address major application challenges faced by today’s industry,
ii) develop human-centric solutions, tools, and software modules that expand the state-of-the-art in industrial HRI,
and iii) deploy industrial HRI at scale across four testing and experimentation facilities and more than 25 workplaces throughout Europe (FSTP Projects).

The ARISE project will leverage cutting-edge open-source technologies from the European innovation ecosystem and will make a significant advance to position Europe at the global forefront of industrial HRI. The project focuses on achieving four major goals:
(1) increasing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of developing, deploying, and maintaining HRI solutions;
(2) developing open-source-based reusable modules that push industrial HRI beyond the state-of-the-art;
(3) demonstrating openness and agility as crucial enablers of truly valuable and sustainable HRI solutions; and
(4) ensuring impact and sustainability through a critical mass of stakeholders and strong liaisons with the ADRA ecosystem.
