About Analytical Techniques

A common thread that pulls together many different disciplines within science is the need to quantitatively investigate and validate results by making use of analytical techniques. Such a technique can be described as a method used to determine some chemical or physical property of a substance, material, or chemical element. There are a wide variety of techniques used for such studies, ranging from gravimetric analyses and titrations to an extensive array of spectroscopies and microscopies including advanced techniques using highly specialized instrumentation.

This collection aims to collate research related to the ever-expanding realm of analytical work within natural sciences, both theoretical and applied. Submissions to this collection can be focused on but not limited to one of the following areas:

• characterization techniques
• method development & validation
• separation & purification techniques
• spectroscopy & spectrometry
• microscopy
• image & spectrum analyses

Only research funded by Horizon 2020 and/or Horizon Europe is eligible for publication on Open Research Europe. All article processing charges will be covered centrally by the European Commission.
Open Research Europe requires open access to research data supporting articles under the principle ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’. All articles should include citations to repositories that host the data underlying the results, together with any information needed to replicate, validate, and/or reuse the results/your study and analysis of the data. We recognise there may be exceptions due to ethical, data protection, or confidentiality considerations, or because the data have been obtained from a third party and access restrictions apply.
